Spirits were high at the APC Campaign Flag Off which held at the Umuahia Township Stadium yesterday, January 11, as Barr. Benjamin Kalu, APC candidate for House of Representatives, Bende Federal Constituency was officially given the party flag.

At the rally was the National Party Chairman, and former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomole who was present to hand over the party flag to Abia State gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah as well as other APC candidates for the national and state houses of assembly.

The popular APC candidate addressed the massive crowd of constituents who showed up for him.

“Today, I received the final mandate of my political party, the audacity to fly the beautiful colours of good governance, the wings for Bende Federal Constituency to soar into their destined place of quality representation that would be based on the people element as found in the definition of democracy.  This is because a man does not represent himself; he must be sent by the people and must report to the people.

The office I seek is lower than the office of the citizens of Bende and that is why the right to hire and fire (recall) resides with them. I will work hard to change the old dynamics and inject ideas that will leave a personal touch on the people.

Beyond my key duties; legislating, oversight functions and representative roles, I will knock on all doors with the needs of the Constituency through presentations and lobbying in search of lasting solutions.

Bende, a place very vast in land mass and population and the oldest undivided Local government area since creation in 1976, is faced with hydra headed problems and at the same time well equipped with areas of strength good enough to showcase to the world.

We shall coordinate, harmonise and document all the great minds that Bende is known for through our Human Resources data bank for proper placement to enhance the development of our communities.

I look beyond winning the general elections. When I do with your help, I will be available and my phones and doors shall remain open as they have always been. We shall hold each other’s hands as we strive to make our Bende a better place.

We are in this project to win all the way and backed by the sustaining force of the people, nothing shall stand in our way to celebrating on the 16th of February and 2nd of March”

Chief Benjamin Kalu, went straight to celebrate with the physically challenged supporters of his who left all to come to witness this glorious moment of flag hand over. Appreciative of their support, BenKalu said,

These are my people. They risk all for me because of love and I love them more. I brought them the flag to fly because it belongs to them, the Okada riders, the market women, the vigilante groups, the homeless, the down trodden, the high and the mighty as well. Everyone has got a role to play.
