Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has affirmed the commitment of the green chamber to advancing legislative initiatives that protect the welfare, safety, and economic security of workers across the country.
Kalu, who paid glowing tribute to Nigerian workers as the nation marks Workers’ Day on 1st May 2026, lauded their dedication, hard work, and resilience in driving the country’s growth.
Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, said that in a goodwill message today, he described Nigerian workers as the backbone of national progress, noting that their daily sacrifices have continued to evolve a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
“Today, we recognise the men and women who make up the Nigerian workforce. We salute your dedication, hard work, and commitment to the advancement of our nation.
“To every citizen contributing daily to the growth of our economy, your resilience remains the backbone of our progress. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and your sacrifices continue to shape a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.”
According to Nwabughiogu, Kalu said that as representatives of the people, legislators remain committed to advancing legislative initiatives that improve the welfare, safety, and economic security of Nigerian workers.
“Together, we will continue to build a nation where hard work is rewarded, dignity in labour is protected, and every worker has the opportunity to thrive,” he said.
